How to Read a Supplement Facts Label

The Supplement Facts panel is the starting point for comparing a product with research. Serving size, exact amounts, ingredient form, and warnings can materially change the evaluation.

Health note: This page is educational, not medical advice. New, worsening, sudden, or functionally significant cognitive symptoms deserve appropriate professional evaluation.

Serving size

An amount listed on the panel usually corresponds to the stated serving, not necessarily one capsule. Check how many capsules, tablets, or scoops make a serving.

Ingredient amount

Compare the listed amount with the form used in relevant human studies. Milligrams alone may not be enough if extract standardization differs.

Proprietary blends

A blend may list the total amount without individual ingredient doses, which makes study-dose comparisons difficult.

Other ingredients

Capsule materials, excipients, allergens, sweeteners, and processing aids can matter for individual preferences or sensitivities.

Warnings and directions

Follow the product label and consider medication or condition-related cautions. “Natural” does not eliminate risk.

Memory Measure standard: We distinguish merchant claims from ingredient research and from evidence on a finished formula. An ingredient study does not automatically prove that a multi-ingredient product works.
